Suzuki Motor Corporation (hereinafter “Suzuki”) has invested in SkyDrive Inc. (headquartered in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture; Tomohiro Fukuzawa, CEO, President and Representative Director; hereinafter “SkyDrive”), a developer of “flying cars” and “cargo drones.”
In March 2022, SkyDrive and Suzuki formed a partnership to collaborate in the business and technology fields related to “flying cars,” and since then, the two companies have been exploring future collaboration and business development opportunities. Through this investment, the two companies will further strengthen their partnership, cooperate with other investing companies, and work toward the social implementation of new “flying car” mobility.
Suzuki will cooperate in the development of technologies, including weight reduction based on its basic philosophy of “Sho, Sho, Kei, Tan, Bi” (smaller, fewer, lighter, shorter, cleaner), as well as electrification technologies, mass-production technologies, and business development in markets including India.
In recent years, demand for personal transportation has increased due to the need to reduce congestion and simplify overall traffic in urban areas, as well as changing needs for “transportation as needed.” In addition to providing mobility from the sea to the mountains through its marine, motorcycle, and automobile businesses, Suzuki will pursue initiatives to realize the business of aerial mobility.
Suzuki will contribute to the development of a future mobility society in which personal transportation and environmentally friendly mobility will be essential.
