Suzuki Invests in Fujisan Asagiri Biomass

Suzuki Motor Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “Suzuki”) has invested in Fujisan Asagiri Biomass LLC (Headquarters: Fujinomiya, Shizuoka, Japan; hereinafter referred to as “Fujisan Asagiri Biomass”).

Fujisan Asagiri Biomass was established in 2021 and operates the Asagiri Biomass Plant. The Asagiri Biomass Plant was scheduled to commence operations and begin selling electricity in March 2023.

Fujisan Asagiri Biomass collects cow manure from local dairy farmers and livestock producers, which is fermented and refined into biogas. The biogas is then used as fuel to generate electricity at the Asagiri Biomass Plant. The electricity generated will be supplied to the local area through a local electric power company. The residue (digestate) produced during the fermentation process will be marketed as organic fertilizer.

Through its investment in Fujisan Asagiri Biomass, Suzuki aims to contribute to the revitalization of the local community by utilizing local resources, such as cow manure, to generate electricity and produce organic fertilizer. Suzuki will also apply the knowledge and experience gained through Fujisan Asagiri Biomass to its biogas demonstration project in India.

Through Fujisan Asagiri Biomass and the biogas demonstration project in India, Suzuki will contribute to the development of a recycling-oriented society.
